Tony Blair supports Labour Friends of the Forces.

Tony BlairIt is great that Tony Blair has today supported Labour Friends of the Forces. As Prime Minister and Leader of the Labour Party Tony was a huge advocate of the Forces and their families, making important strides in policy on welfare as well as the equipment programme.

Tony Blair said:

“My congratulations to Jim and Dan for setting up Labour Friends of the Forces. It is vital that those serving our country, along with their families and friends, know that they have our support not just when they are deployed overseas but throughout their military career and beyond.

I know Labour Friends of the Forces will ensure the voice of those on the frontline and those they leave behind will be heard clearly in the party as we make the case for our forces and the vital work they do so brilliantly.”

  1. Great. At last. I am a LE Officer (with 30+ years service) and long time Labour Party member. I have long been frustrated by the mistaken belief by a large number of my colleagues that the Tories are the friends of the Forces. The truth is very different but the belief persists. I hope that Labour can do better in persuading servicemen and women that we have traditionally fared better under a Labour Government. This will only work if you step up a gear in highlighting the differences between the two parties regarding Defence. Good luck.
