Jim Murphy MP, Shadow Defence Secretary, responding to today’s announcement that veterans of the Arctic convoys and Bomber Command have finally received recognition of their service with a medal, said:
“It is right that the courage of those who served in Bomber Command and the Arctic Convoy are honoured in this way.
“Their actions, in tough and trying conditions, were vital to the second world war effort.
“We know that families provide the quiet courage that keeps service personnel going on the frontline. That is why I am so pleased they too will have the chance to honour their fallen loved ones.”
